The family of
Whitney Houston released the following official statement about her recent death.
“We are devastated by the loss of our beloved Whitney. This is an unimaginable tragedy and we will miss her terribly. We appreciate the outpouring of love and support from her fans and friends. The Houston Family”

Houston was born in Newark and raised in East Orange, and while many have said she never forgot her Jersey roots, her Atlanta ties were just as long.
Whitney and ex-husband
Bobby Brown shared a home in the city and Houston still owns a townhome located in Alpharetta (an Atlanta suburb).
In fact, rumor has it that Houston’s daughter
Bobbi Kristina, 18, is said to have been living there off and on unsupervised.
The two cities were each close to Whitney’s heart and the family is reportedly torn over where she should be laid to rest…

Both Cissy Houston and Dionne Warwick prefer that Whitney be buried in Atlanta, near the home where her daughter Bobbi Kristina resides.
They also believe Atlanta is the place Whitney enjoyed the most and had the fondest memories.
But according to
TMZ, the rest of the family believes Whitney should buried in Newark, where she was born, and subsequently discovered at a local Baptist church.
Houston’s mother, Grammy-award winning gospel singer Cissy Houston, led the musical program at the 112-year-old church back in the day, while Whitney’s cousin, Dionne Warwick, also sang in its choir.
We’re told Cissy’s position is succinct: “Michael Jackson did not want to be buried in New Jersey, and Whitney did not want to be buried in New Jersey.”
We’re told Cissy and Dionne caved, after other family members convinced them New Jersey is where the world will remember her most.
Whitney has homes in LA, NJ and ATL, and lately spent most of her time in California.

As for her daughter
Bobbi Kristina, a source revealed to
HollywoodLife that she spent most of her time in Atlanta… alone.
“Bobbi has been living alone for years. Whitney basically bought the home for Bobbi after they were kicked out of another prestigious neighborhood down the road.
While Whitney’s ex,
Bobby Brown, recently
left his New Edition reunion tour to be by his daughter’s side during this trying time, many friends of the family are said to be worried that 18 year old Bobbi Kristina will be even more alone when she returns home to Atlanta.
