Phaedra Parks and her
multi-million dollar lawsuit against VIBE magazine.

The normally astute gossip site erroneously reported that Parks and her mother, Regina Belle, had settled their defamation lawsuit with the magazine for what amounted to be the cost of a new purse.
While the story made for great Sunday morning gossip, it wasn’t true. Unfortunately I don’t work on Sundays, but I tried to warn bloggers and the like via Twitter, as soon as y’all started sending me the link:
Guess what? I was right…
Here’s the TRUTH about the situation… HOT TEA ALERT!
The link TMZ posted has since been removed, but it originally stated the following:
“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Phaedra Parks needs a lesson in negotiating — because the reality TV star settled her $30 mil lawsuit against Vibe Magazine for WAAAAAY LESS than what she wanted.
Parks filed the suit against Vibe in May after they published a book called “Lies Of a Real Housewife” — which she claimed made her out to be a “crooked attorney engaged in a multitude of criminal acts.
“Vibe denied the allegations in her complaint, but still came back with an offer for settlement … to the tune of $2,500 (which is obviously is nowhere near $30 mil).
Both parties then agreed to dismiss the suit last month after settling out of court. TMZ broke the story … Phaedra’s mom ALSO filed a lawsuit against Vibe for the same book, seeking $6 million in damages. Parks’ mom ALSO received a settlement offer from Vibe — hers was for $10 (yes, TEN DOLLARS). She too recently dismissed her suit.
The article was NOT true at all and Phaedra’s attorney’s hit the net to correct the situation…
Phaedra has NOT settled her case against Vibe and she is definitely still pursuing her suit.
Vibe reportedly made some type of settlement offer, but from what I’ve heard, neither Parks or her attorneys were interested in settling.
As for the federal court case, it is TRUE that Phaedra voluntarily dismissed the case but only so that it could be re-filed in Gwinnett County State Court to add the author of the tell-all, Angela Stanton, as a defendant.
Per Georgia law, in order to add Stanton as a defendant, Parks had to file the suit in STATE court as opposed to federal (due to the fact that they are both Georgia residents).
While Stanton has been adamant about her stance to “tell the truth and shame the Devil,” and often says she’s prepared to face Phaedra in court, she’s now AVOIDING being served the lawsuit and even admitted it on TWITTER!
The woman is clearly in need of a psychiatric evaluation!
Stanton wants to tell her “truth” but now that she has the opportunity to put it all out there IN FRONT OF A JUDGE, she ducks and dodges service? Gimme a f*ckkin break….
